About the series:
"Anna makes collages having a black rectangular center, in which floats a single richly colored, ambiguous cut-out form. To decode these offerings, we look for data in the paper framing, which is as full, baroque, and rhythmic, as the center is stark and simple. Visual information, which has been selected and organized into boxes of values over the years, is culled and cut into intuitively linked gatherings. The cutting and assembling builds to a gestural, dense gestalt which, like her drawings do, offers us a way into the past and onto our present. The collages open up masses of visual data and allow our imagination free range to absorb, intuit, and respond." (Judy Southerland, artist and curator)
